| Terms of Service & Forum and Chat Room Rules ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS All Website services provided to you by YourSite@VillageDirect.Org (together herein referred to as "VillageDirect.Org") are provided to you subject to the following terms and conditions of service. Your subscription to any of the services listed on VillageDirect.Org indicates that you accept and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions of service. Our forums are open. Once you register, you become a "member" of the forum.
1. 2. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE. MODIFICATIONS TO SERVICE Yoursite@VillageDirect.Org provides users with various web publishing and content management services, including but not limited to the ability to create and maintain a web page as well as the hosting services. In order to use the service users should provide for own access to Internet and pay any service fees associated with such access. Yoursite@VillageDirect.Org reserves the right to change the terms of service and prices for paid upgrades without prior notification. Yoursite@VillageDirect.Org reserves the right to delete free accounts, which have not been used for a certain period of time, following an email notification and the expiration of the warning period defined therein. 3. USERS OBLIGATIONS AND CONDUCT Each user bears the sole responsibility for the content published on their Yoursite@VillageDirect.Org website. Yoursite@VillageDirect.Org does not control the content posted via the service and, as such, does not guarantee the accuracy or quality of such content and cannot be held responsible for it. Use of the service is subject to all applicable local, state, national and international laws and regulations as well as to Internet-specific policies and procedures.
User agrees: (i) not to use the service for illegal purposes; (ii) not to publish any material that is unlawful, harassing, abusive, threatening, offensive, vulgar, obscene, harmful, libelous, invasive of another's privacy or constitutes an infringement of third party intellectual property rights. (iii) not to interfere with or disrupt in any way the service including servers and networks connected to the service; (iv) not to interfere with another user's enjoyment of the service. User should indemnify and hold Yoursite@ VillageDirect.Org, VillageDirect.Org and their subsidiaries, affiliates, officers and employees, harmless from any claim or demand made by any third party due to or arising out of user's conduct, violation of these Terms of Use by user, or the infringement by user of any intellectual property or other right of any person or entity. VillageDirect.Org may, at it's sole discretion, terminate the service should a user's conduct fail to conform to these terms and conditions.
4. USER ACCOUNTS AND SECURITY Users are entirely responsible if they do not maintain the confidentiality of their password and account, as well as of password protected areas of their sites. Users are entirely responsible for any and all activities which occur under their account. Users agree to immediately notify VillageDirect.Org and Yoursite@ VillageDirect.Org of any unauthorized use of their account or any other breach of security known to user.
5. CONTENT OWNERSHIP Users retain copyright ownership and all related rights for materials published on their Yoursite@ VillageDirect.Org website.
6. STORAGE AND OTHER LIMITATIONS Yoursite@ VillageDirect.Org reserves the right to automatically clean assets exceeding the storage limit, after sending an email notification for exceeding the limit and failure on the part of the user to take subsequent action to clean the surplus assets or alternatively request an upgrade of the account. VillageDirect.Org assumes no responsibility for the deletion or failure to store information entered into Yoursite@ VillageDirect.Org.
7. NOTICE AND TERMINATION OF SERVICE Either Yoursite@ VillageDirect.Org or the user may terminate use of the Service with or without cause at any time and effective immediately. VillageDirect.Org shall not be liable to users or any third party for termination of the service. Upon termination, user's right to use the service and the related software ceases immediately.
All notices shall be in writing and shall be made either by publication or via email. VillageDirect.Org may publish notices on this website http://vdips.org/vdirect/terms.html & to inform users of changes to the service, Terms of Use, or other important procedures; such postings shall constitute notice to users. VillageDirect.Org Forum & Chat Rules and Guidelines Our aim is community economic development through capacity building, cultural awareness, collaboration, partnerships and enterprise. VillageDirect.Org does not support a particular political point of view or religious point of view. Please do not use the forums and chat rooms to promote or create hate, and to scandalize a particular political party, political candidate, government administration, religious beliefs or religious organization. Our rules and guidelines are designed to give you a better understanding of acceptable behavior and provide a rewarding, enjoyable and safe experience for all members and visitors. This forum is not for debating controversial subjects. Limited religious references are allowed (ie. "my prayers are with you" or a brief quote as part of a larger post), but the forums should not be used to convert others.
- Do not discuss illegal activity or threats of violence.
- If it shouldn’t be viewed by minors, then it shouldn’t be posted to the forums or chat rooms. This is a public, family-friendly forum.
- Do not disrespect moderators. Be respectful in both the forums and any private communications with moderators. Violations of this rule will not be tolerated.
- Use good judgement. NEVER rely on information or opinions exchanged via the forums or chat rooms to replace necessary, personal consultation(s) with qualified professionals.
- Do not use the Service to upload, post, e-mail or otherwise transmit any Content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, attack, insult, "flame", defame, or abuse members or non-members or otherwise objectionable; Respect other members of the community and don’t belittle, make fun off, or insult another member or non-member. "Flaming" and insults will not be tolerated (NOT EVEN ONCE!). Agree to disagree. This applies to both the forums and chat.
- Do not post or give out personally identifiable information that you do not want known. Your personal information you provide when registering our board will NEVER be given out under any circumstances other than law enforcement agencies in a proven criminal investigation.
- Do not posts advertising or links to advertising or "Spam" (including signatures). Advertising or Spam is defined as posting a link for the purpose of selling, soliciting or promoting by someone that has ownership or other "vested interest" to the web site involved, including efforts to promote other online forums or web sites by web site owners. If you are a web site owner and have a link that fits into this category that you want to share, please submit it to a moderator and we will review your submission.
- Links about fundraising (including nonprofit fundraisers) are only permitted on the home page of member charities and forums designated for that purpose.
- Links to helpful web sites (commercial or otherwise) are allowed when they are posted by someone without any "vested interest" AND whose purpose is NOT to solicit, advertise, promote, fundraise, etc.
- Do not use multiple usernames. Register and use only one username. Posting under multiple user accounts will result in administrative action (ie. banning).
- Do not post lengthy articles. Sharing information is allowed, but the forums are not to be used to publish articles. It is an improper use of critical forum resources.
- Cryptic posts are not allowed. Using cryptic messages to "skirt" the rules is not permitted.
- No SHOUTING. Remember, using ALL CAPITAL LETTERS in posts is considered yelling and rude, plus it is difficult to read.
- No irrelevant or off-topic posts. Posts which are not relevant to the forum topic may be deleted at the moderator's discretion.
- No lengthy signatures. Limit signatures to 10 lines or less. Moderators will edit and/or remove signatures that are too long.
- Report posts that violate the rules and guidelines. We will act on the report as quickly as we can. Do not reply to the offending post as that typically only encourages the poster. If there is someone on the forum that bothers you, alert your moderator.
- Use descriptive titles for new posts. Avoid "generic" post subjects like "Help" or "Question". You will receive a better response to your posts by being more descriptive about the content of your post.
- You acknowledge and agree that VillageDirect.Org may preserve content and may also disclose content if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such preservation or disclosure is reasonably necessary to: (a) comply with legal process; (b) enforce these Terms of service; (c) respond to claims that any content violates the rights of third-parties; or (d) protect the rights, property, or personal safety of VillageDirect.Org, its users and the public.
- Moderators have the right to edit or delete posts without prior notice that violate of the rules above. They are also responsible for promoting participation in the forums and chats. Each moderator, being human with different life experiences, may see things through slightly different eyes and some variance is to be expected.
